CONCERN has been raised about people taking photos and videos of children in the playground of a primary school.

A police probe is underway amid fears adults were photographing youngsters in the grounds of Notre Dame Primary, in the West End, this week.

It's understood several alleged incidents have taken place with school staff challenging those involved.

Cop patrols have been ramped-up on Havelock Street and the surrounding areas with education chiefs moving to reassure parents that all steps are being taken to protect children.

In a letter sent out this week, which has been by the Glasgow Times, school bosses said CCTV was in place and all teaching staff had been told to be alert.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concerns about people acting suspiciously near a school in the Havelock Street area of Glasgow on Tuesday, 19 October.

“Officers have carried out patrols of the area at key times at the beginning and end of the school day to provide reassurance. There has not been any trace of anyone in the area during these patrols.

“Officers are liaising with the school and have offered suitable advice. Anyone wanting to report any concerns can call 101.”

A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said: "The school followed the correct procedures and contacted the police, informed families to be vigilant around the school and spoke to pupils about the stranger danger message about keeping everyone safe.

“This could be a completely innocent incident but it’s always better to be cautious and alert police who will give advice and support to the school.”
