Janey Godley has shared a throwback swimsuit picture and opened up about her eating disorders.

The brave 61-year-old took to social media and made an emotional post about “hating” her body for years.

She shared a snap of her in her youth while at the beach surfing at Newquay in a black swimsuit with dark curly hair.

She told her 282k followers how she never felt “thin” enough for society, sadly triggering food issues in the late 70s.

Glasgow Times:

But now she is celebrating her body and how it is battling her ovarian cancer and coping after “what she put it through”.

It comes after she announced treatment was “back on the cards” after she was given the all-clear in June.

Janey is now planning for her last-ever tour as she wants to “go out with a bang” as she fights the disease.

She plans to focus on the UK tour which is scheduled to kick off in Arbroath in February 2023 before closing in London in March.

The Glasgow comic is determined to stay positive to avoid “just fading away”.

She opened up about her illness in an effort to raise awareness of the disease which has been branded a ‘silent killer’.

An astounding 90% of women don't know the four main symptoms of ovarian cancer, according to Ovarian Cancer Action.

This includes persistent stomach pain, persistent bloating, difficulty eating, feeling full more quickly, and needing to pee more frequently.

These were the symptoms Janey noticed but put them to the back of her mind as she went on tour.

It wasn’t until she spotted a Tweet from TV presenter Julia Bradbury, highlighting the symptoms of ovarian cancer, that it ‘came together’ and she went to the GP.

Now she hopes to be the same warning sign for other women by being extremely open and candid about her own experience.
