Kate Garraway has shared a heart-breaking update with fans after sharing that her husband, Derek Draper is “trapped” in his own body.
It comes after the Good Morning Britain presenter gave an update on Derek's health as he continues to battle the impact Covid-19 had on his body.
Speaking in an interview with Good Morning Britain, the presenter revealed that “Derek is trapped, but he fights on. We cling on to the good days.”
Previously, Garraway spoke to The Sun and confessed that sometimes Derek will lie in bed as he struggled to move and speak, seeing “tears rolling down his face.”
Kate Garraway shares heartbreaking update
Ever since Derek was admitted to the hospital with Covid during the first lockdown, Kate has been caring for him and sharing the family's journey.
Derek was placed on a ventilator in March 2020, before being placed in an induced coma, with Kate and the couple's two daughters unable to visit due to strict rules.
Over a year later, Derek was released from the hospital and allowed home but the virus left him confined to a bed and wheelchair, unable to walk.
The GMB presenter revealed last summer that she thought she would lose Derek after he had a kidney infection followed by sepsis.
Kate has since shared that “every day is a roller coaster” as the family continue to adapt to Derek's health.
Before contracting Covid, Derek was a political lobbyist but now needs 24 care from a team of health professionals.
