Police and ambulance crews were called to a Glasgow gig after a large crowd of fans were knocked back from the show.

Hundreds of rap fans headed to the O2 Academy on Eglinton Street yesterday to watch English rapper Digga D perform.

But the alarm was soon raised to the police and ambulance services when hoards of fans were refused entry.

Officers were called to the Gorbals venue to deal with the large crowd, which had formed when a "high number" of gig-goers had been refused entry.

Venue bosses revealed that they are now working with cops for any further enquiries.

A spokesperson for the O2 Academy said: "A large crowd gathered outside O2 Academy Glasgow during the evening of Monday, October 3 due to a high number of refusals at the point of entry.

"Officers attended to support crowd dispersal, and we are liaising directly with Police Scotland to assist with any further enquiries.”

Reports on social media claim that an "insane" amount of police cars were present.

One Twitter user commented: "The amount of police after the Digga D gig in Glasgow was f****** insane. Like 14/15 cars all up the road. Madness."

Meanwhile, Police Scotland confirmed to the Glasgow Times that two teens, both aged 16, were arrested.

No further information in relation to the arrests was given.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that they deployed multiple crews to the scene, where an individual was treated for injuries.

A spokesperson said: "We received a call at 9.47pm on Monday to attend an incident at the O2 Academy in Glasgow.

"We dispatched three crews to attend and treated one patient at the scene.”
