A major city franchise has announced the closure of one of its Glasgow restaurants in light of the cost-of-living crisis.
The team behind Five March confirmed that they would be closing their venue Guid Egg on Elderslie Street.
Serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, Guid Egg was opened in April 2022 by Joanna Nethery and her business partner Peter Mackay.
It was their latest venture after Five March - known for its sharing plates and organic wines - and breakfast spot Morning Glory, both in the West End.

Now they have made the decision to close - but have teased that they will be continuing in some form with plans for a pop-up kitchen.
Posting on social media, they wrote: "Dearest Guid Eggers. We are extremely sad to announce we will be closing our doors effective immediately in light of the current cost of living crisis.
"This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we thank you all for your support on our journey since we opened.
"Thankfully, not all hope is lost. We’re planning a very exciting pop-up kitchen over the winter months, so please keep your eyes peeled for more information.
"Until then, support local where you can. Come and say hello to us at Morning Glory and Five March. Guidbye for now, we’ll be back soon.
"Lots of love from everyone at Guid Egg."
The team at Five March have previously highlighted the need to make a difference in the local community by providing free meals to those who are struggling with a drop-in system.

Joanna previously said: "It’s something that we really believe in and it would be nice to think that business isn’t always about money.
“The cost of living is incomparable to five years ago and the only way we are going to get through this is to look out for one another.”
