Graeme Morrison, estate and facilities manager, says the revamp will improve visitors' experience.

He said: "We’re delighted with the look and feel of the reception and changing areas which will enhance the experience for our visitors.

"As part of the upgrade, we have also improved fire safety, electrical and IT systems, lighting, plumbing and security systems.

"This £300k investment follows on from the recent £1.5m used to transform the outdoor synthetic sports surface and soon-to-be-completed athletic track."

Further phased improvements are planned in the coming months, including the refurbishment of the gym flooring, internal and external redecoration and roof replacement works.

Council leader Jim Logue said: "It’s great to see these changes benefiting members and customers.

"The new reception area is designed to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and provide a quick and easy check-in for users.

"The new changing rooms make such a difference and provide first-class facilities for teams to use as they enjoy the outstanding outdoor pitches and running track.

"The difference from the old area is really striking and I’m sure customers will really like it."
