NHS staff at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital were treated to a bundle of goodies for going above and beyond.

The team in the Biochemistry department at the Southside Hospital are behind the process of working through the blood samples that come in. They were nominated thanks to laboratory assistant Robert Taylor

Blue Light Card’s Emergency Treat team surprised the department by delivering a box full of treats as well as being visited by the mascot Pete the Treat.

Robert said: “I was thrilled to learn that myself and my wonderful colleagues had been selected to receive such a great treat.

"Every day, we work incredibly hard to process all the blood samples in this busy hospital  - helping our patients receive the treatment they need, as quickly as possible.

“Having used Blue Light Card savings every week for about three years, it was a real joy to meet some of the team, as well as the emergency treat mascot, Pete the Treat.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to Blue Light Card for our lovely treat boxes, and the continued support it shows for the Blue Light community.”

Launched to reward those who work tirelessly to keep us all safe and healthy, Blue Light Card’s Emergency Treats campaign invites members to nominate those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, for the chance to receive a jam-packed box of treats as an extra special ‘thank you’.

Speaking about the Emergency Treats campaign, Alidad Moghaddam, CEO of Blue Light Card, said: “We understand the demanding nature of the work carried out by those in the Blue Light Community.

"The ‘Emergency Treats’ was born from our desire to express gratitude to the dedicated members of our community who carry out these challenging roles, and to say a huge ‘thank you’ for all their tireless efforts."
