A crime scene has been taped off following a horrific attack in a pub.
Emergency services were blue-lighted to the premises on Campbell Street in Hamilton on Tuesday evening.
It is understood a man was assaulted in the bar.
The 47-year-old victim has been rushed to hospital and the force says it is now looking into the incident.
The Glasgow Times understands a crime scene cordon was placed around the pub following the assault while officers carried out investigations.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, we received a report of a serious assault at licensed premises in Campbell Street in Hamilton.
"A 47-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing.”
