Young musicians are set to turn out at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall as part of a Christmas Gala event.

The show is set to take place on Monday evening, December 4, at 7.30pm and will look to encapsulate the festive feeling for the audience.

The performers: the Secondary Schools Orchestra, Primary Schools Choir, Children’s Chorus, pupils from the new Woodland View School and the Gaelic Unit of Meadowburn Primary School, will be taking to the stage to play and sing to a packed auditorium.

Audience members are expected to be treated to a programme of popular orchestral music and traditional festive favourites and pre-concert music will be provided by a string ensemble from selected primary schools and the Junior Brass Band.

Councillor Lynda Williamson, convener of the council’s Education Committee, said: “I was absolutely blown away by the performances at last year’s Christmas Gala Concert and I am very much looking forward to the event this year.

"It’s a great way to kick off the Christmas festivities and an opportunity to showcase our extremely talented young people in a fantastic concert venue.

“Throughout the year our dedicated Instrumental Music Service has been tutoring and supporting our young musicians and singers to prepare them for this concert on a stage that has attracted acts from all over the world.

"It is the first time many of our young people will experience performing in such a venue and it will be a night they’ll never forget."

"Tickets are now on sale and I would encourage family and friends of our young performers to book at the earliest opportunity – you do not want to miss this show!”
