Leeds United legend Paul Robinson has called on his former club to get Ange Postecoglou in as their new manager.

The Premier League club are on the hunt for a new gaffer after they sacked Jesse Marsch yesterday.

The American lasted less than a year in the post at Elland Road, with the top flight strugglers just one place above the relegation slots, only above Everton on goal difference.

Celtic boss Postecoglou has been heavily touted for the vacant gig, and is among the leading contenders according to the bookies' odds.

And former England No.1 Robinson reckons the Australian should be top of the list for Leeds chiefs.

He told the Scottish Sun: “I know there has been talk of Carlos Corberan at West Brom, but I personally would love to see Postecoglou come down from Celtic.

“They have to get somebody who hits the ground running. People talk about someone who knows the league inside out and know the players. But for me it has to be a man-manager.”

Robinson added: “I think it would be a very difficult time to get Postecoglou obviously, as it’s looking like they’re going to win the league again and another trophy for him up there.

“But I think of his man-management skills and the  way he’s adapted himself to the Scottish Premiership and the trophies he’s won.

“He’s got Harry Kewell as his assistant up there, so there is a link already.

“I think it’s only going to be a matter of time before he does come to the Premier League and I’d love to see Leeds push the boat out and go and get him now.”
