Motherwell goalkeeper Liam Kelly is reportedly a summer transfer target for Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers has been credited with interest in the former Rangers player as he prepares for a major overhaul of the goalkeeping department at Lennoxtown.

Joe Hart is set to retire at the end of the season and it's thought Benji Siegrist could also move on at the end of the season to seek game time elsewhere.

That means Celtic will require a recruitment drive to bolster their goalkeeping options - with Kelly a transfer target this summer.

The Scotland international is out of contract in the summer meaning he would be available as a free agent.

And the Daily Mail report Kelly - who could make the Euros squad under Steve Clarke - is on a list of targets for Celtic in the off-season.

However, Kelly could still move down south if Celtic interest fails to materialise into a free transfer move with the goalkeeper being looked at by clubs in England.

Kelly, 28, started his career at Rangers but never made a competitive appearance for the club.

He went on to play for East Fife and Livingston before a move to QPR in the English Championship.

From there, Kelly would return to Motherwell, initially on loan, before a full-time return to Scotland where he broke into the national team under Clarke.

Meanwhile, Vasilis Barkas has claimed the Covid pandemic played a huge role in his £4.5m Celtic transfer move 'not working out'.

He said: “It was a move that excited me at the time, but the timing was unlucky as no one knew that Covid would have the impact on things as it did.

“I went to another country to play outside Greece for the first time and due to the situation, players had to be in different changing rooms and stay apart from each other as much as possible.

“That meant that I was not able to have the connection with my teammates like I had at AEK before I arrived.

“I was also not able to enjoy the simple things such as going out for coffee as you were not allowed to with the Covid rules.

“I felt like I did not have a period to acclimatise to Scotland as I would have liked which impacted on my mental health and then in my ability to perform as I had before."
