Lorraine Kelly apologised to viewers on her ITV show after letting a rude word slip live on air.

The Glasgow telly host made the gaffe during Monday morning's instalment of Lorraine.

She was talking to Emmerdale star Nicola Wheeler about her character's latest story arc, and the conversation soon turned to the tough weather conditions actors must endure while filming.

Nicola said: "There are long horrible cold days when you are out in the village all day and it's raining and windy so you've got to have that sense of humour with each other because words take up a lot of your life so if you're not having fun it makes life miserable so our aim is to have fun."

Remembering a previous visit to the set, Lorraine said: "I do remember being there when we did the show live from Emmerdale and the last time we did it the school pack was lovely and cosy with lots of fire.

"But we have been outside and it was boll******."

Nicola replied: "The village is like a wind tunnel because there can be a mild breeze around the village but down that main street it's like blowing a gale every time and I'm always taken where my hair is blowing in the wind."

Later, Lorraine swiftly quickly apologised for the on-air mistake, saying she didn't realise it was naughty as it was a word said "all the time" where she is from, the Mirror reports.

She said: "Now earlier on when I was talking to Nicola I said a bad word and I didn't know it was a bad word because in Scotland we say that word all the time."

Fans reacted to the blunder on social media, with one saying on X: "#lorraine Ooohermissus! Lorraine just said 'b*********' but live caption editor censored it to 'freezing'." (sic)

Another added: "Did she just say b*********? #Lorraine."

A third replied: "Hahaha #Lorraine said b********* on live TV."
