This "hand-blended facial in a jar" comes complete with upbeat advice to enjoy your life and live it to the full.

I'm not sure that the inside of the packaging to a £30 face mask is where I would turn for life-affirming philosophy and guidance, but it was reassuring to know that slathering on a beauty treatment might be considered living life to the full on an otherwise uneventful Sunday evening.

The product itself is stylishly packaged and has the aesthetics of an upmarket spa product.

It promises a lot: to leave your skin with that 'just had a facial' glow with a refreshed, dewy and moisturised complexion that just shouts "health and vitality".

The texture is buttery and oozing with the kind of essential oils that you would expect to leave your skin glowing and dewy like a catwalk model, while a sugary crystalline roughness promises to gently exfoliate and refresh. Once massaged across the face, these beads "melt" into the skin to "leave the goodness behind".

You can either leave it on for half an hour as a face mask experience, or use morning and evening as a cleanser. A soft muslin cloth is provided to wipe the product off, which is a nice touch.

On first use, my skin certainly felt soft and moisturised - but I wouldn't say I saw the aspirational "dewy glow" of the marketing blurb.

It is luxurious though, and it definitely has potential with a few more applications.

If your skin is dry and dehydrated, the moisturising effects are definitely there and well worth the money as autumn and winter loom. Reviving dull, tired skin is a harder quest, but used as a twice-daily cleanser this product feels like it could deliver results - maybe just not life-changing ones.
