BARRHEAD'S new McDonald's has officially opened its doors today.
The new restaurant, which is located on Glasgow Road in the town, began welcoming customers at 11am.
Ahead of its opening, our sister title the Barrhead News was invited to take an exclusive look around the new store.
The fast-food shop includes spacious dining areas for customers inside and outside, and also a drive-thru.
It also includes a "delivery room" for delivery drivers.
Jim McLean, who is the franchisee of the store said he is “delighted” about the opening.
The 65-year-old currently runs nine restaurants across Scotland and has been a franchisee for 10 years.
He said: “I’m delighted, particularly when you look at this one compared to other restaurants – it’s such a step forward.
“My other restaurants do need some investment but just to be able to walk into this one and see it the way it is, is amazing.”
Jim says the difference between his new Barrhead store to his others is just in the “look” of it.
He added: “The other thing is this one has also got a facility for delivery drivers.
“They have got their own entrance that will separate them from other customers which makes it a wee bit more efficient.”
Lee MacLeod, the franchisee supervisor said he is also looking forward to the store opening.
The 38-year-old who has worked his way up in the company said: “This one is different.
"I’ve opened a store before as I was the assistant manager when Silverburn opened and it had a lot of things this one has like the conveyor belts, but this one should unlock a better experience for the customers basically because of the delivery room.
“That will give us the opportunity to separate it and give the customer back the dining area.”
Lee said he is also looking forward to getting involved in the local community.
He said: “I’m hoping we can be quite active in the community. I’m hoping we can kind of show that we are a good neighbour, and we will try and do as much as we can once we are set up.
“We want to try and get involved in the community as much as possible.”
