QUEEN of the South are in the Scottish Cup Final, where they await either St Johnstone or Rangers at Hampden.
RONNIE MacCRAE of Carmyle remembers another giant- killing act, asking: Can you give details of the 1994 League Cup Final between Celtic and Raith Rovers, listing the teams? The 1994 League Cup Final was held at Ibrox on November 27, 1994 in front of a crowd of 45,384. After 90 minutes, the score was tied at 2-2, with Crawford (18mins) and Dalziel (86) scoring for Raith Rovers and Walker (32) and Nicholas (84) netting for Celtic.
After extra time, the scores were still tied and in the shoot -out , Rovers won 6-5 to take the Cup to Kirkcaldy. Teams: Raith: Thomson, McAnespie, Broddle (Rowbotham, Narey, Dennis, Sinclair, Crawford, Dalziel (Redford), Graham, Cameron, Dair.

AARDVARK (Glasgow) Who were the first Scottish club to beat Queen's Park and is it true they refused to play in the first season of the Scottish First Division? If so, why? The first Scottish club to defeat Queen's Park were Vale of Leven, who did so 2-1 in a Scottish Cup fifth round tie on December 30, 1876.
The reason Queen's Park were against joining the Scottish League was that they felt it would be detrimental to the amateur and the smaller, less powerful clubs. They were proved right with the demise of both Renton and Vale of Leven, both giants in the early days, and several others, and their own modest standing in the league today.
TRADITIONALIST (Giffnock) I recently read that Hugh Dallas refereed a Junior match involving a team called Glenboig. Can you please give some history on this team?
Also, can you confirm if Lex Gold, the SPL chairman, was once on the books of Rangers?
Finally, can you confirm the maximum number of players from Scandanavia used by Morton and Dundee United in a Scottish league match, including full teams? Glenboig, formed 1978 and were previously Mount Ellen Juveniles from 1943 until 1978. Their home ground was Carrick Park and their colours red and black.
They disbanded in 1988. Sorry, but this is all I've been able to find out about the club. Perhaps some Evening Times readers may be able to help?
Lex Gold was on Rangers' books during season 1959/60, but never played for the first team.
Scandinavian players used in matches between Morton and Dundee Utd... this would mean trawling newspaper reports for probably the whole of the 60's, a large if not huge task. We would have to pass on this one.
RAY DAVIES(Partick) While looking through an old copy of Charles Buchan's Football Monthly, I came across a photo from a Switzerland v Scotland match in 1957. Although the photo was in black and white, there was something unusual about the Scotland kit. Can you help with any details? On May 19, 1957 in the St Jacob Stadium, Basle, Scotland beat Switzerland 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier. Scotland team: Younger, Caldow, Hewie, McColl, Young, Docherty, Smith, Collins, Mudie, Baird, and Ring.
Scorers were for Scotland were Mudie (33) and Collins (72mins).
