THE annual shortlist of Scotland's most abysmal architecture has been drawn up - and there are a few shock contenders.
Glasgow riverside development Springfield Quay has been nominated for the top gong in this year's Carbuncle Awards.
Listed in the Plook on the Plinth category twice won by Cumbernauld, Springfield Quay's Etap Hotel and casino have also made it into the Most Disappointing Building section.
"Council leaders have stressed that high quality design and new public walkways along the Clyde are crucial for city development," said the judges.
"Instead the new Etap Hotel and casino are sad excuses for building. The casino, a big silver box, blocks views to the river.
"It has all the charm of a failing car park."
Also on this year's Plook on the Plinth shortlist are Glasgow Oatlands, old favourite Cumbernauld Town Centre, Coatbridge Town Centre, Granton Harbour and the former Ayrshire mining town of Cumnock.
The team behind Glasgow's new £350million shopping centre will also be reeling as Silverburn joins Glasgow Harbour, Ravenscraig, Granton, Cambuslang Hoover factory and Tesco's Partick plan in the Worst Planning Decision category.
Surprise entries in the Most Disappointing Building awards are the Morrisons store at the Anchor Mill in Paisley, Cumbernauld's Antonine Centre and Shields Road Car Park.
Judges have also criticised the South Side community of Nitshill where spaces such as the local shopping centre are "poorly conceived and badly maintained."
And Cumnock in East Ayrshire is described "a sorry, unlovely place".
