Former Scottish Government Cabinet Minister Susan Deacon is to take up a new post with Edinburgh University.
Her role will be to encourage greater collaboration between the university and policymakers, business and industry.
The new, part-time, post of Assistant Principal Corporate Engagement will also help to build on the university's commercialisation activities.
An Honorary Professor at Edinburgh since 2010, Ms Deacon has worked closely with the university for a number of years on many projects.
