SOME of the most important women in Scottish sport were in Glasgow for the launch of a new organisation
Judy Murray and Olympic rower Katherine Grainger met with other sporting stars at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome to launch Scottish Women in Sport (SWiS), which aims to get more women and girls involved in sport.
Cyclist Charline Joiner, rugby player Megan Gaffney, squash player Frania Gillen-Buchert, netballer Lesley MacDonald, Cricketing Abtaha Magsord, wrestler Kathryn Gallagher and hockey player Susan McGillivray all attended the launch.
Scottish sports journalist and broadcaster Alison Walker opened the event.
SWiS is described as a group of like-minded professionals, involved in administration, coaching, broadcasting and promotion of sport with the common aim of getting more women and girls into sport.
Organisers hope SWiS will help address the gender gap in all areas of sport as Glasgow heads towards the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
