It has been over 25 years since a group of eccentric New York City scientists who investigate and capture ghosts for a living, captured the imagination of moviegoers in one of the biggest grossing comedies of the 80s.

The Ghostbusters then were an all male crew made up of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis.

Glasgow Times:

Now 27 years after Ghostbusters II hit movies screens, comes a third instalment, and this time it's an all female principal cast.

The first trailer just unleashed has given fans a first real look at the new Ghostbusters - starring Bridesmaids  stars Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig with Saturday Night Live comics Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

The film also stars Chris Hemsworth as their receptionist and will feature cameos from original actors Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd.

The new  film is seen as Sony’s major attempt to restart one of their few successful franchises and also create a “cinematic universe” that would allow a number of related films to exist.

Glasgow Times:

The first movie unleashed in 1984  grossed approximately $240 million in the US and over $50 million abroad during its theatrical run, more than the domestic gross of the second Indiana Jones instalment, making it the most successful film in America that year and one of the most successful comedies of the 1980s.

The American Film Institute ranked it 28th in its list of the top 100 comedies of all time.

The first trailer for Paul Feig’s hugely anticipated reboot showcases some big differences between the original films.

The old Ghostbusters HQ, the Hook & Ladder No. 8 firehouse, has been switched for Zhu’s Authentic Hong Kong Food.

And while Ramis’s character Egon Spengler used to munch on Cheez-Its, now Holtzmann shovels Pringles into her mouth.

The trailer for the new movie due out this summer.
