A drumchapel machete thug who has been on the run for two years tried to gouge out a prison officer’s eye with his thumb.
Jonathan Kelly, 35, has been described as the UK’s most wanted man after breaking strict bail conditions.
He was jailed for three years in 2002 after paralysing his victim in a knife attack and was freed on licence from HMP Low Moss in Bishopbriggs in 2014.
Kelly was ordered to comply with 32 strict conditions but breached one by failing a drugs test and was due to be sent back behind bars but has vanished.
Prison records describe him as an extremely violent prisoner with a long history of serious assaults to staff and prisoners.
A £5000 reward has been offered for his capture. Police believe he may have grown a beard.
