THE Stirling Whisky Festival has made it a ‘Magnificent Seven’ after posting a sell-out success.
The Stirling Spirit Company (SSC) is proud to announce that the seventh year of The Stirling Whisky Festival attracted visitors from across the globe en route to pumping approximately £110,000 into the local economy whilst just under 500 bottles of Uisge Beatha were purchased in the process.
Around 700 drambusters descended upon the iconic Stirling Highland Hotel on Saturday, May 12 to celebrate 'the water of life' and enjoy over 100 different drams served at 25 stands and charge their glasses in a celebration of our national drink.
Delighted SSC co-owner June McCann admitted she'd been left in seventh heaven and her expectations impressively exceeded: “With the previous two years having been sell-outs you always worry that there will be a dip, but I am happy to say that if anything the seventh Stirling Whisky Festival has raised the bar again.
“There is no doubt that the Glenfiddich and Wolfburn Master classes we featured this year really added an extra dimension to the festival and the fact they were both sell-outs underlined that.
“But the bottom line with any whisky festival is that it’s only as good as the quality of the whisky on offer and we believe we put on a dramtastic event.
“In that respect our new retail partner Royal Mile Whiskies, who are one of Scotland's foremost whisky purveyors, were vital in helping achieve a five-figure off-sale return and we are delighted they will be continuing to work with us at the 2019 Stirling Whisky Festival.”
Whisky aficionados travelled from all over the globe to historic Stirling and as June revealed there is no wonder the seventh Stirling Whisky Festival gave the local economy a huge shot in the arm.
She added: “We had patrons joining us from as far a-field as Australia, Chicago, USA, Switzerland and France, so for me it is particularly pleasing that the Stirling Whisky Festival’s renown is truly international.
“Yet with over 700 people visiting, staying in our fabulous city and making the most of its delights, it is fantastic that Stirling will have benefitted, we estimate, to the tune of around £110,000 and on top of that the sun even shined.
“So, all in all we hope that our patrons have gone away having seen our city in its best light and that they will once again share fond memories of good times spent making new friends and meeting old acquaintances over Scotland’s national drink.”
