TWO teenage boys have been charged in connection with the racist assault of another boy.

Police were called to the Southern Necropolis on Saturday, May 26, after emergency calls about a large scale disturbance.

A 17-year-old boy was subject to an alleged racially motived serious assault by what police said was a "large group of youths" on Caledonian Road.

The teen was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and treated for serious facial injuries before being taken home by his parents.

Two 14-year-old boys were arrested and charged in connection with the incident, which occurred around 6.30pm..

They have both been reported to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police can confirm that two boys aged 14 have been charged in connection with a disturbance that took place on Caledonia Road on Saturday 26 May 2018.

"Around 6.30pm on Saturday, May 26 2018, police were called to a report of a 17-year-old male being subject of a racially motivated seriously assault by a large group of youths on Caledonia Road, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious facial injuries.

"After treatment he was released into the care of his parents.”
