FIREFIGHTERS rushed to Cessnock subway station this afternoon after two train carriages overheated.
The incident saw the entire underground system grind to a complete halt for a short period of time just after 2pm.
The incident was the second to hit the entire system in the same day.
All Subway services currently suspended due to defective train at Cessnock. No trains running on either circle. Will update once we have more information. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Earlier, during the morning rush hour, the Subway saw all trains suspended after one broke down as it entered the system, blocking both the inner and outer circles.
Maintenance teams quickly rushed out to work on the affected service and the trains were able to run again shortly after.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said: “We were alerted at 2.12pm on Monday, July 9 to Cessnock subway station in Glasgow.
“Operations control mobilised two fire engines to Cessnock Street where train carriages had overheated.
“Crews liaised with engineers on site and left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
