A DOG rescue charity is asking the Glasgow public to take “pride” in a host of pets looking for new homes.
Dogs Trust Glasgow’s call comes as the charity gears up to support this year’s LGBTQI+ Pride Festival at Kelvingrove Park on Saturday and Sunday with a family-friendly dog show.
In the run up to the highly-anticipated annual event, canine lovers have appealed appealing for homes for a special set of dogs.
Bosses said: “Just like every person, every dog also deserves to be loved for who they are.”
The first dog in need of a new home is Otis, an 11-week-old Lurcher puppy who is full of energy and looking for a family who will devote time and patience to continuing his training.
He can live with children of all ages, dogs and cats, as being around people and animals will help him develop socially as he grows up.
Dodger and his new canine doppelganger Tippy are also in search of new homes.
Dodger has been in the care of Dogs Trust Glasgow for two years and instantly became friends with Tippy, who arrived at the rehoming centre two weeks ago.
Tippy can be shy at first but warms quickly to new people and is looking for a family who can give her space when she needs it.
Dodger has also become more confident around other dogs and people, however, would still need to meet potential owners a number of times before going to his forever home.
Tintin is an adorable West Highland Terrier who was found straying by local authorities.
Not much is know about Tintin’s life prior to becoming a Dogs Trust resident, however, he is blind and will require “a little extra TLC,” but is keen to be around people.
Sandra Lawton, Rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, described Pride as “such an important event.”
She said: “It promotes acceptance, equality and inclusivity, and Dogs Trust is honoured to support Glasgow’s festival each year.
“Not only do we think every person deserves to be loved for who they are, but we believe this should also apply to dogs, regardless of their age, size, breed or colour.
“We really hope to find new homes for our residents because we take pride in matching dogs with suitable human companions who believe a dog is for life.”
