POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in the early hours of this morning.
The incident, which took place in Rashieburn, Erskine, happened at around 3.15am on Sunday morning when the 43-year-old woman was walking her dog on a footpath.
She was walking on the footpath near to Rashielee Avenue when she was approached by someone who grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her. Police said it is not clear if her attacker was male or female.
The woman did not require hospital treatment, but is extremely distressed by this incident.
Detective Inspector John Stewart at Paisley Police Office said: “Officers are carrying out enquiries in the Rashieburn area, including house to house enquiries, to gather more information on this attack. We will also be reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
“Our investigation is at an early stage to gather more information and establish if it was a man or woman responsible for this attack, and more details on it.
“I am aware that this incident will be concerning to the local community, however I would like to reassure them that additional officers are patrolling the area, and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.
“Anyone with information that may assist our investigation should contact Paisley Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 1043 of Sunday 15 July 2018. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.”
