THE company which carries out DNA paternity testing for The Jeremy Kyle Show is offering ‘walk in’ appointments at a new clinic in Glasgow.
AlphaBiolabs claims testing has increased by 400% in Glasgow in the past 12 months through its website. Kits are also sold in branches of Home Bargains.
The clinic, in Glasgow Medical Rooms on St Vincent Street, is the company’s 10th in the UK and is offering a walk-in service on Thursdays initially, with plans to become a five-day operation as demand grows.
Customers are required to register online first with the company.
Currently 18 per cent of the tests carried out by AlphaBiolabs come from Scotland and Glasgow is the third busiest UK city for visits to its website, according to the firm.
The walk-in centre can provide paternity and maternity testing as well as sibling, twin, grandparent, aunt and uncle tests. It is also offering drug and alcohol testing services for workplaces.
Rachel Davenport, commercial director of AlphaBiolabs, said Scottish companies have become more proactive in this field, undertaking increasing numbers of tests on employees and suppliers against the background of a lower drink-drive limit since December 2014.
