COPS hunting a sex beast who pounced on a dog walker believe witnesses could help trace the attacker.

The female victim, 43 was sexually assaulted at around 3.15am on Sunday in Erskine.

She was walking her dog on a footpath in Rashieburn, Erskine near to Rashielee Avenue when she was approached by someone who grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The woman did not require hospital treatment, but is extremely distressed by this incident.

Cops previously said that they did not know if the attacker was male or female.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross at Paisley Police Office said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries and are particularly keen to speak to two women and a man who were in the area at the time of the attack and may have seen it take place or have information that can help us.

“The man is described as being around 20 years old, of slim build and had been near the underpass after the incident, and the two women were in Rashieburn just before, around 3 am.

“These individuals are key and may hold information to assist the enquiry.

“Any information that can help us identify the person responsible for this terrible attack is vital. We urge you to come forward.”

Inspector Cassie Glass, the officer in charge of policing the Erskine area, added: "To help re-assure the community in Erskine we have increased both high-visibility uniformed and plain-clothes patrols in the area. Anyone who has any concerns should speak to any of the officers or get in touch with me at Renfrew Police Office.

"We are carrying out extensive house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage. Despite the early hour I am sure there will have been someone walking or driving in the area who may have witnessed the attack.
