A GANG of man carried out a violent and thoughtless attack on a young man - to steal his mobile phone.
The 31-year-old victim was mugged in Kilwinning on Tuesday at around 10.10pm.
He was walking along Main Street when he was pulled into Castlepen Close by three men, assaulted and robbed of his mobile phone.

The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where his injuries were described as serious.
The first suspect is described as being white, in his late 20s to early 30s, and he was wearing a grey hooded top and grey shorts.
The second suspect is described as being white and his late 20s to early 30s.
No further details of the third suspect were provided by police.

Detective Constable Stephen Ferry, Saltcoats CID, said: “This attack was violent and thoughtless and has left a man with serious injuries.
“Our officers have been checking CCTV and speaking to those in the local area to try and trace those responsible.
“We are asking you to think back, where were you that night? Did you see or hear anything that might help our investigation?
“If you have any information that can help we urge you to come forward and contact us.”
