IT'S a library with a twist... and organisers need your help.
Environmental charity South Seeds is aiming to set up a tool library for people on Glasgow's South Side.
Bosses said locals have been asking for the service for some time - and so they are taking action to set it up.
People will be able to borrow DIY and gardening tools that they might only use once or twice and so dodge the cost of a purchase and the hassle of storing them.
Joanna Hartga, of South Seeds, said: "People have been asking us for some time if they can borrow tools and equipment - they might only need it once or twice and can't afford to shell out the money or they might not have anywhere to store it in their flat.
"We also know that there are lots of people who have tools that they rarely or never use, or that have been handed down to them from relatives.
"We need these people to donate their unused tools to the tool library so we can put them back into use on the south side straight away by providing a reliable, convenient way for people to borrow what they need, when they need it rather than having to buy it."
The scheme is part of a larger project run by South Seeds to cut carbon emissions and is funded by the Scottish Government through the Climate Challenge Fund.
It will first work on a monthly 'pop-up' basis with South Seeds working with other local organisations to find space for the library.
Membership is likely to be by donation of tools or money and hiring items will be free.
People will be able to request to hire tools through an online inventory system and then pick them up at the pop-up library, which should be underway by August.
But South Seeds needs donations of working tools and people to volunteer to show others how to work the equipment.
