George Square has been fenced off ahead of the mass rally by the Scottish Defence League against 'grooming gangs'.
The event will take place in George Square today (Saturday) with similar protests also expected to happen elsewhere in the city.
A fence has been put up surrounding the square with several police vans and mounted cops reportedly circling the area.

SNP MSP Sandra White took to Twitter to express concern for where the rally would take place as the whole square has been cordoned off.
She said: "George Square just now can't see where anyone can congregate."
Eye witnesses have described a huge police presence in the area, one said: "I'm not kidding right now there is loads of police in the George Square area right now more than ever before."
Ayyyy, we're 4/4 now: Queens park, KG park, Glasgow green and now George square. Guess I'll have to take my dog home to Ayr for a decent walk... pic.twitter.com/2BCSkONOwt

As reported by the Evening Times, the SDL, which is a subsidiary of the English Defence League, planned the protest following the jailing of former leader Tommy Robinson, above, for contempt of court over a case linked to alleged grooming.
Counter protesters are allegedly also planning to march in oppostion of the SDL today.

Robinson admitted to broadcasting details of a trial under way at Leeds Crown Court on Facebook and was detained for 13 months.
His appeal against the jail sentence will be decided by the end of the month.
