SDL members were reportedly vastly outnumbered by anti-fascist groups at their organised rally in George Square today.
Marching in opposition to the rally, members of the public took to the streets alongside anti-fascist protesters and allegedly outnumbered the group eight to one.
Several peopele took to social media following the event to congratulate those who had stood up against the SDL members who had arrived at the square.
United Against Fascism wrote on their Facebook page: "Hundreds of anti-racists and anti-fascists in Glasgow opposing and outnumbering the SDL 8 to 1 today.
"Lots of trade union banners and flags on display today from RMT and Unite Union.

"Well done to all who attended and supported the counter demonstration called by UAF Scotland."
Eye witnesses described a huge police presence in the area this morning with mounted cops and several officers surrounding the square.
As reported by the Evening Times, the SDL, which is a subsidiary of the English Defence League, planned the protest following the jailing of former leader Tommy Robinson for contempt of court over a case linked to alleged grooming.
