RESIDENTS of a partially collapsed block of flats have hit out at a lack of progress as council bosses set out a timeline for repairs.

In October last year during Storm Ophelia, the front was torn off flats at 127 Albert Road, in Crosshill.

The building had previously been evacuated after it was found to be unsafe and had lain empty for a year.

Responsibility for repairing the property lay with the private owners, however the council had offered them financial assistance.

But residents said this did not come fast enough.

Local councillor Soryia Siddique said: "Residents have complained regarding the lack of progress in repair works at Albert Road.

"There are complaints of work delays, the street is messy, lack of street parking and general lack of regeneration in the area.

"I have raised this with development and regeneration services.

"They advise that works should be complete by May 2019.

"It is important that building works are progressed and Glasgow City Council commits to its timelines."

The council now says the stabilisation works, which began last week, will be finished in November this year and full repairs completed by May 2019.

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “The further work needed to stabilise the building is now underway and will hopefully be complete by November this year.

“If everything goes according to plan, the full repair to the building should be complete by May next year.

“The council is matching the contribution of the owners to this substantial repair.”
