GLASGOW has missed out on the chance to be the home of Channel 4's new headquarters.
The bid team has been told it has not been shortlisted for the building, but is still in the running for one of two smaller 'creative hubs'.
The Glasgow bid has been led by the journalist and broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove.
The city had high hopes for the bid, hoping it would attract Channel 4 to the city, boasting its strong independent production sector.
However it appears that Glasgow's distance from London by rail has worked against the bid.
Glasgow's bid for the main new HQ emphasised the city's independent production and digital sectors, the links between higher and further education and the creative industries, and the city’s social diversity.
Channel 4 are also looking to set up two commissioning hubs outside London, as well as the new National HQ.
The National HQ plan includes a studio as well as offices for around 300 staff.
Leeds, Birmingham and Greater Manchester are in the running for the headquarters.
Bristol, Cardiff, and Glasgow are in the running for the creative hubs.
Glasgow's bid received public support from both Edinburgh and Dundee.
