GREG DOCHERTY did pretty well when he came into Rangers last season and it was a big step up for him going from Hamilton Accies to Ibrox.

The expectation levels are so different and it will maybe just take Greg a bit of time to settle in and show what he can do because there is no doubt that he has got ability.

It looks like he won’t be part of Steven Gerrard’s plans for this season and he will be allowed to go out on loan and play regularly elsewhere. That could prove to be good for him.

As a midfielder, he is probably one of the fittest and one of the hardest working in the league and you can’t rule out him coming back an even better player and full of confidence.

He is still only 21-years-old so he has still got loads of time on his hands to make it at Rangers and I am not concerned about him being allowed to go out on loan this season.

There are loads of players that have gone out on loan and then come back and played every week and made a real impact for their parent club.

So I don’t see this situation being a problem for Greg and I hope that he can still play a big part for Rangers going forward.
