TRIBUTES have been paid to a Pollok man who died after a week in hospital following a disturbance in the south-west of the city.

Andy Donlon, 49, has been described as a “great, big guy” as his partner Katie Hanlon posted a throwback image online of the pair in happier times.

One pal wrote: “So sorry for your loss, pal. He was a great, big guy. Fly high, Andy. RIP”

Another said: “Sorry for your loss, Katie and family. RIP, Andy.”

“I’m so, so sorry about Andy,” read another. “I can’t believe I’m saying this. Thoughts to you. RIP, Andy. Gone but never ever forgotten.”

“Can’t believe he’s gone. Such a great guy and friend. Thinking of you,” was another touching message.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, a 49-year-old man was left seriously injured after a disturbance at an address on Levernside Road on July 13.

The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on Sunday night.

A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday July 17 following the incident.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Police can confirm a 49 year-old man - who had received serious injuries following a disturbance on Levernside Road, Glasgow at around 10.30pm on Friday, July 13 - died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“On Sunday, July 15, a 40 year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, July 17.”
