A PLAN to build new homes on Glasgow’s South Side are to be reviewed by city chiefs.
Convery Prenty Architects want to build seven flats with nine parking spaces across from the Levern Bridge at Nitshill Road.
The land is currently used as a storage yard for timber and is occupied by a tree surgery business.
But the new proposals could see the brownfield site transformed, with two open spaces being created for the community.
In the planning statement Steve Convery, from Convery Prenty Architects said: “This proposal seeks to change this land use to residential with the construction of seven new townhouses.
“These form a domestic land use, linking in with the surrounding residential developments to the east while complimenting the open parkland to the west.
“The houses have been oriented to face east on to the existing access road and present a rear garden to the west. This maximises the sunlight hours of the garden while also allowing the garden greater connection to that of the neighbouring parkland.
“The proposal brings the land use closer to the expected contextual use and adds attractive and desirable dwellings to the area.”
Originally the plan had been to build eight homes but that was reduced after an agreement was reached with planners on how best to maintain the existing landscape corridor along Nitshill Road.
Mr Convery said that the homes would be “robust built” and the two new communal areas would complement the private gardens.
He added that the addition of the open spaces would create an attractive entrance to the site and would promote links through to the neighbouring parkland.
There will be one block of three terraced homes and another of four. All of the homes will come with their own garage and gardens and will be three storeys high if approved.
Glasgow City Council’s planning committee are expected to make a decision on the application later this year or early next year.
