INNOVATIVE dining concept Six By Nico has revealed its upcoming themed menu for next month.
The Finnieston restaurant, which also has a branch in Edinburgh, is famous for its themed food menu that changed every six weeks.
With the current Mexico menu soon on its way out, bosses have revealed the next one will be centred around the 1970s.
Aiming to transport guests through the decade of disco with new dishes, staff said it is time to “revive the retro delights of prawn cocktail, showboat dinner parties and fondue.”

Known for Angel Delight, instant mash, Primula cheese swirls, Spam, greying boiled eggs and chunks of tinned pineapple, the 1970s’ food trends have long been described as the decade that good food forgot. However, Six By Nico believes those dishes are held in great affection today.
Chef Nico Simeone will celebrate some of the highs and lows of the pre-Instagram, pre-clean eating era that will see prawn cocktail, chicken kievs and trifle being served up in one of the city’s hippest restaurant as Six by Nico cooks retro food with an upmarket twist.
The six-course tasting menu will include spam and mash made with potato, espuma, smoked ham hough and pickled mustard seed, prawn cocktail made with tiger prawn, baby gem ketchup, tomato and shellfish marie rose, along with chicken kiev made using black garlic emulsion, pea pesto and rainbow radish.

Salmon tikka marsala will follow with onion bhaji, caramelised cauliflower and lime gel, followed by duck a l’orange made with confit duck, aromatic carrot and orange puree.
Completing the 1970s menu will be a classic British summer dessert with a unique twist on trifle made using summer berries, saffron, almond sponge and whipped creme fraiche.
Chef Nico Simeone described how people ate “the most bizarre stuff” in the ‘70s, and added: “We want to create incredible new dishes that would define the decade.
“It was the era of the showboat dinner party when meals didn’t just taste out of this world, but they looked out of this world too.

“Our new menu concept is all about a time, a place and a fantastic reminder of the past with your favourite dish.
Children of the ‘70s will remember eating them all the time at home, and our team at Six by Nico is super excited to revive them for a new generation in our restaurants.”
The menu will be priced from £28 per person with the option to enjoy an expertly-selected wine and specialist drinks pairing for an additional £25 each.
There is a vegetarian alternative available for every course, as well as retro snack sides.
The new menu will run from Tuesday, August 7 until Sunday, September 16.
