A NEW York brewery is kicking off its UK tour in Glasgow by hosting a one-off creative food and drink party.

Brooklyn Brewery said it had “scoured the city” to unearth the best up-and-coming street food chefs, DJs and artists for the big day.

Oragisners will be collaborating with Glaswegian legend and Malaysian street food diner Julie’s Kopitiam, DJ collective Frogbeats and street artist Rouge-One to host the bash.

A tour bus will be driving into the East End’s Barras Art and Design (BAaD) venue where the first 200 guests will enjoy a free pint.

With free entry, the event aims to get back to how craft culture should be experienced, with no overpriced tickets, no booking fees, no warm beer, instead, focusing on great music, art and food.

Julie’s Kopitiam, run by former Masterchef contestant Julie Lin Macleod, has made a name for itself on the Glasgow foodie scene in recent years with the cook’s authentic, flavour-filled food, inspired by her Malaysian heritage and mum’s recipe book.

Julie will be bringing her irresistible plates to BAaD to cook up up everything from drunken braised pork belly with lager and fried mooli bites to smashed cucumbers and Malaysian lentil curry.

Frogbeats will also be entertaining guests with a jungle and bass inspired set throughout the night.

To bring the space alive, Glasgow-born Rouge-One will be creating a mural on BAaD’s shipping container walls while crowds eat and drink.

Brooklyn Brewery’s brand ambassador for Scotland, Aidy Fenwick, described how the event is all about finding “the very best craft talent in Glasgow.”

She said: “It’s one of the UK’s most creative cities.

“All our local partners are incredible Glaswegian legends who represent the city through their authentic, quality and creative work.

The tour bus will be kitted out with a fully-functioning bar and space to seat up to 12 beer lovers.

The bus also has a serving hatch that will pop open to serve guests a range of brews.

There will also be the chance to try some of the brewery’s limited-edition beers, rarely available in the UK.

Brooklyn On Tour takes place at BAaD on Saturday, August 4 from 3pm to 10pm.
