An ex-professional wrestler is hoping to have a reunion with two opponents he used to battle with in the ring more than 40 years ago.

Andrew Bryden, who fought as Dale Storm in his wrestling heydays, is asking for help to trace Ian McKay, from Bonhill, and Jimmy Wilson, who, he believes, was also a goalkeeper with either Dumbarton or Clydebank football clubs.

As reported by the Clydebank Post, he hopes the three can meet up again at the second Scottish Wrestlers Reunion at the Market Inn, Ayr, on Sunday, August 26.

Andrew, from Ayr, featured on the immensely popular ITV World of Sport, watched by millions of wrestling fans on Saturday afternoons during the 1970s and 1980s.

He also has been a wrestling promoter and has several acting roles under his belt, including parts in Taggart, Still Game and in an advert for the Scottish Children’s Lottery.

Andrew told the Post: “During the World of Sport era, I was in regular contact with both Jimmy and Ian.

“As well as being a really good pro wrestler, Jimmy had also been a goalkeeper with either Dumbarton or Clydebank.

“Both Jimmy and Ian were fantastic wrestlers and they were on several of my promotions back then.

“Jimmy, who would occasionally use the name Viking, used to wear a mask, what we called a ‘thermos’ – Cockney rhyming slang for mask – and in one of the pictures I can be seen trying to rip it off.

“I don’t have a picture of any kind of Ian sadly. He was tall, thin and very quick. He was a bit of a flyer, a great worker.”

Andrew was badly injured in the early 1980s and came off the circuit and it was then he lost contact with the others.

He added: “Over the years the emergence of wrestling reunions for both old guys like me, and Joe public alike, has thankfully meant we can now have the chance to sit down, have a cup of tea and chew the fat.”
