PLANS have been submitted for a new 'warehouse' gym in North Glasgow.
Elation Fitness Training want to use an industrial unit on Strathmore Road as a gym.
They have asked Glasgow City Council for permission to change the use of the unit.
A planning statement said: "My plan with the warehouse is to keep it exactly the way it is, over one floor.
"I will be doing repairs to the building only, fixing all the damage that has happened over the years.
"The main part of the building would be the shutter door, holes in the roof, pesticide checks, asbestos checks, and then laying floor down, and then lastly mirroring the walls."
The statement adds: "Our goal is to bring something to the community as well as bringing a place to work-out and new jobs to Lambhill, Ruchill, Possilpark, Cadder and Milton area. There is nothing health and fitness related within a mile of this area."
The business hopes to offer one-to-one and group personal training. After three months, it is hoped that there will be options for a membership facility which will include nutrition and training plans.
The fitness firm also want to offer over 15 classes a week.
The gym would open Monday to Thursday, 6am to 9.30pm; Friday 6am to 8pm and Sunday 8am to 3pm.
Down the line, Elation Fitness Training also said that they want to run a youth club every Friday to help young people stay off the streets.
Plans for an over 40s training class are also mentioned in the proposal.
The statement added: "Having the warehouse facility at 44 Strathmore Road wouldn't cause any delays or congestion in traffic as I will be encouraging clients to be eco friendly by recommending walking or cycling to the facility.
"The area will still be classes as an industrial and business location as the facility I am opening is a warehouse gym and nothing like the corporation gyms that the city centre provides.
"Ninety-five per cent of customer swill also be local users, this means they will be able to access by walking, public transport and cycling. So there wouldn't be an add ons to carbon footprint by opening at this location."
A decision is expected on the plans by September 12.
