Hundreds of visitors heading to Glasgow for the European Championships 2018 will be living like locals.

Throughout the event, local hosts on Airbnb and families across Glasgow will welcome guests into their homes.

The holiday rental service has been announced as the official provider of alternative accommodation for the event.

There are around 2,700 active listings on the site across the city which will be in use by visitors to the competition between August 2 and 12.

The multi-sport event will see Glasgow and Scotland host 12 sports – Diving, Open Water Swimming, Swimming, Synchronised Swimming, Road Cycling, Track Cycling, BMX, Mountain Biking, Golf Team Championships, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon – across 12 venues in partnership with the city of Berlin which will host the Athletics.
