FABIO Cardoso has returned to Portugal to join Santa Clara after his Rangers contract was terminated on Monday.
The centre-back arrived in Glasgow from Vitoria Setubal for a fee of around £1.5m last summer, but made just 12 Premiership appearances for the Ibrox club.
His exit was confirmed at the start of the week after the two parties agreed to tear up the 24-year-old's contract with two years remaining.
Cardoso did not have to wait long to find his next challenge, as newly-promoted Portuguese top-flight outfit CD Santa Clara announced his arrival on the same day.
The team from the Azores, who achieved promotion last season after finishing second in the LigaPro, have handed the stopper a four-year deal ahead of the new campaign.
The former Benfica and Pacos de Ferreira made 18 appearances in total for Rangers, but he was not in the plans of new manager Steven Gerrard following the summer arrivals of defenders Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
