A NEW project to promote the LGBT+ community to become involved in sport has been launched by Glasgow young people as the European Championship games get underway.
The lottery-funded Mojo On The Green project for the Year of Young People aims to ensure the entire city is inspired by Glasgow 2018 to enjoy sport at all levels without fear of discrimination.
From Thursday, August 2, to Sunday, August 12, young mobile journalists will be filming people supporting LEAP Sports Scotland’s Football v Homophobia campaign as they take part in a giant inflatable human table football game in the Activation Zone on Glasgow Green.
The young reporters will also be interviewing athletes, officials and volunteers at Pride House in their bid to promote a message of equality and inclusion.

The six-strong team of 18 to 25-year olds received training from Glasgow-based social enterprise Media Co-op in mobile journalism skills and developed a social media strategy to encourage everyone to share the message of “Sport for All” in a bid to fight discrimination and improve mental health among young people.
Final year journalism student Fraser Knight is one of those taking part.
The 21-year-old said: “Throughout my life I’ve not felt confident enough to take part in sports, because there is a fear attached to this as an LGBT+ person.
"It’s important to fight against the prejudices which cause this fear in order to better our community - and that’s what this project will do”

Executive director for LEAP Sports Scotland, Hugh Torrance added: “Mojo on the Green is all about giving young LGBT+ people a voice throughout the European Championships and beyond.
"Inflatable human table football plus activists with a passion for LGBT+ equality: it’s a powerful combination.”
The news comes after it was revealed the games LGBT+ hub had received hate just days before opening.
As previously reported, police are investigating the incident which saw a member of staff struck with a stone and bombarded with transphobic abuse on Sunday evening.
