The streets of Glasgow were injected with a burst of colour as the Festival 2018 carnival got underway.
Over 800 community and professional performers took part in the vibrant carnival procession on Saturday.
Music, dance and street performance were showcased in the colourful procession which headed along High Street and Saltmarket before finishing up at Glasgow Green.
Participants came from across Glasgow and Scotland, representing the venues of the sporting action– East Dunbartonshire, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, North Lanarkshire, Perth & Kinross and Stirling – as well as Glasgow schools and Karneval Der Kulturen in Berlin.
The procession was a culmination of months of work, developed with community groups, schools and artists from each of the host local authorities who have been exploring and celebrating their ‘Shared Differences’.
