THE mum of RAF airman Corrie McKeague has hit back at her ex-partner for comments he made on the investigation into their son's disappearance.

Nicola Urquhart filmed a 10-minute Facebook Live video in reproach at Martin McKeague, Corrie's dad.

Mr McKeague had written his own message on Facebook earlier this week, saying that his son was "no longer missing".

But on the Find Corrie Facebook page, Ms Urquhart said: "We're still looking for Corrie. Corrie is missing.

"The police don't know. They cannot categorically state Corrie is in a particular area but they just can't get him."

As told in the Evening Times, Mr McKeague had claimed he was certain about what happened to the 23-year-old serviceman.

Corrie went missing in 2016 in Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk, after a night out and has never been seen since.

He said his son was "somewhere in the Suffolk waste disposal system" and would never be recovered.

Martin wrote: "Corrie is no longer missing.

"What we mean by this is that after looking at all of the facts and evidence we now know what happened to our son.

"We are certain he is somewhere in the Suffolk waste disposal system, but his remains are essentially irretrievable."

Police managed to piece together some of his last movements on September 24, after CCTV footage showed him eating takeaway food at around 1.20am.

At 3.24am Corrie was last spotted taking a nap in a nearby doorway before he left the view of the camera.

It is believed he climbed into a recycling bin before being crushed to death by a bin lorry and taken to a landfill site 30 miles away.

In her Facebook Live video, Nicola claimed that Martin was trying to bring the police investigation to a close.

She said: "We know and we feel that it's Martin's intention, he wants to close this investigation down.

"That's not in his power but that is what he's trying to do. He's trying to prevent us from getting our answers and make people just move on."

She added: "They may be able to give us answers and we will be in a position to say we can now start moving on, they might not.

"We're going to continue to work with the police as we had before. Everything was going fine until this all kicked off."

The mother also spoke of the upset to Corrie's brothers, Darroch and Makeyan.

She said: "It's causing them distress and absolute heartache in their search for their brother and nobody has the right to stop them or me from doing what we feel we need to do to be able to get answers for Corrie."
