A GLASGOW charity has taken steps towards eradicating period poverty in their area.
Starter Packs, based in Govan, will now be offering more sanitary products in their packages as well as handing out free supplies at their bases.
The charity delivers home essentials to people beginning a tenancy who have been referred to them by the likes of Glasgow Housing Association and Women’s Aid.
On top of items like bedding, crockery and kitchen utensils, packs will now contain roughly a year’s worth of sanitary products.
Chair of Starter Packs Lynne made up the first 50 packs earlier this week containing 12 packs of towels, two packs of liners, baby wipes, a pouch or tin to carry them in and chocolate.
Free sanitary products will also be available in The Magpie’s Eye Gallery and The Magpie’s Nest for those experiencing period poverty.
Anyone who wants to help the drive, can donate sanitary products by dropping them off at the Magpie’s Nest at 25 Burleigh Street.
You can also make donations by texting SSPG25 followed by £2, £5 or £10 to 70070 and we are able to buy sanitary products inexpensively directly from a charity wholesaler we can access.
