Images of what the Glasgow branch of a world-famous celebrity hangout will look like have been released.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, The Ivy is to open to open its doors in the city.

Plans have been lodged with the city council to convert the Buchanan Street building currently occupied by the Nationwide Building Society into a branch of the famous brasserie creating 150 new jobs.

The brasserie will spill over onto the public footpath to make way for external seating.

Developers have said that there will be a 'modest' amount of internal remodelling and refurbishment to the B-listed building.

Any detailing of architectural merit discovered when removing the existing store will be retained and repaired.

A 'sophisticated timeless setting and a premier destination' will be created complete with an 'elegant bar counter to provide the focus for this space'.

The design statement adds: " A mix of fixed and freestanding bespoke furniture, will provide a variety of styles and ambience, unique to the Brasserie.

"These include lighting, furniture and spectacular artwork, specially commissioned for the Brasserie."

Glasgow City Council's planning department is set to review the plans in the coming months.
