A DEALER caught with £500,000 worth of cocaine in his home  has been jailed for more than four years.

The drugs were seized after police acting on a tip off searched Derek Nardone's home.

They discovered five blocks of 'white powder' and tests confirmed it was 5kg of the class A drug, with 80% purity.

Police also found two sets of scales, both of which tested positive for cocaine, a large roll of polythene bags and a box of vinyl gloves.

At an earlier hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, Nardone admitted being involved in the supply of drugs.

Speaking following the sentencing today, Nicky Patrick, Procurator Fiscal for Homicide and Major Crime, said: “This conviction means five kilogrammes of Class A drugs has been taken out of the illegal drug supply chain and the man who sought to profit from this is now serving a lengthy prison sentence.

“With each case of this kind we can help reduce the exposure to these illegal drugs and the harm they cause to young and vulnerable people in communities across Scotland.”
