RANGERS fans are being asked to take part in a minute's applause for a soldier who died suddenly.

Jamie 'Delta' Davies has been described by friends and family as a "diehard Rangers fan" which has prompted calls for the poignant tribute during Rangers v Maribor.

The 4 Scots sniper, who returned home after serving his country, is survived by his wife Samantha, and kids Archie and Eilidh.

More than £14,000 has been raised towards his funeral costs through a Justgiving page.

But now Rangers fans are being asked to take part in the applause during the 14th minute of the game tonight.

It is hoped that the tribute will raise awareness of PTSD, a condition it is understood Jamie battled with prior to his death.

Rangers pub NN10, run by former player Nacho Novo, in Kinning Park showed their support for the tribute on social media.

A post on social media said: "Jamie Davies served for his country and took his own life battling the PTSD he suffered afterwards.

"Jamie was a sniper in 4 Scots, the Highlanders, and a diehard Rangers man.

"On Thursday night, let’s express our gratitude with a raucous round of applause in the 14th minute. This has been arranged by friends who served alongside him and would mean the world to his wife Sam and his two young kids.

"Please share this far and wide, not just for the applause, but to raise awareness of PTSD and speak up about mental health.

"And in the 14th minute, let’s get up out of our seats and celebrate Jamie Davies’ life."
