Footage online has showed Slovenian football fans headed for Glasgow this evening engaging in brutal street violence.

The shocking video shows Maribor fans, known as Maribor Ultras, brawling in the street with police just last year.

Fans can be seen wearing balaclavas, throwing glass and flares, and physically attacking officers.

Chants of 'Maribor' can be heard from dozens of fans involved in the violence.

Police Scotland have classed the supporters to be low risk ahead of their game against Rangers tonight.

The authority said fans travelling over from Slovenia will not be escorted to the game to minimise the risk of violence.

Only around 100 are expected to attend.

The move comes exactly a week after a mass brawl broke out near to Ibrox Stadium before the Rangers v Osijek game.

Around 40 to 60 Croatian and Scottish fans were embroiled in a battle on Edmiston Drive which resulted in two Croatian men being stabbed.

Ahead of the UEFA Europa League match, Rangers fans have expressed concern for their safety and the safety of fans travelling to Slovenia next week.

Willie Thomson wrote: "Just gonna put it out there as a Rangers fan. Our fans travelling need to be safe as these guys are a****** who will start trouble for no reason at all."

Stuart Agnew added: "Nevermind our fans travelling. What about our fans tonight? Aye they will be outnumbered but I doubt that would stop them."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Our enquiries into the disturbance and assaults are ongoing. Planning for the Rangers v Maribor Europa League qualifying match is well underway and the match will be policed appropriately."
